The Georgia Aquarium
This is Nash's happy place. Every year for his birthday, we make a trip to the aquarium to sit in the Ocean Voyager room and watch the fishes, whale sharks, and manta rays swim around. There is also a very photogenic sea turtle that likes to show off for the crowd. Be sure to buy your tickets ahead of time and you'll have the option of adding on a private shark cage dive!
Piedmont Park/ATL Botanical Garden
Piedmont Park is a great place to relax and walk. The 185-acre park, located in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood, is a beautiful place to visit and relax, with lots of local options for eating and activities. Be sure to visit Orpheus Brewing (the north end of the park) and enjoy the patio that overlooks the park. Adjacent to the park is the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. It is a beautiful garden with many surprising features. Be sure to purchase tickets ahead of time. A full tour of the gardens will take about 2 hours.
High Museum of Art/Symphony Hall
Come and see the campus where Elena works! With the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, The High Museum, and the Alliance Theatre all located in one spot, there is a lot to do at the Woodruff Arts Center.
The High offers daily museum passes and hosts rare art exhibits. The Alliance often offers matinee performances of their plays. The Symphony Hall will be open to the public to view the stage. And anyone familiar with the Fox network show, The Resident, will have the chance to take pictures of the Chastain Memorial Hospital location!
Ponce City Market/ATL Beltline
Originally a Sears, Roebuck & Co, which became City Hall East, this historic spot transformed into Ponce City Market in 2010.
From the ground-floor retail and restaurants to an amusement park on the Roof, Ponce City Market is the culmination of its history. Adjacent to PCM is the Atlanta BeltLine, ideal for walking or biking around in-town neighborhoods and giving easy access to restaurants and pubs around the city. There are bike rental shops located on the beltline.
